As of recently, I’m experiencing a recurring issue when running Thunderbird on Ubuntu, alongside Firefox. The problem arises specifically when clicking on a link in an email, particularly links from the Freshdesk Ticket System.

After Thunderbird opens the link in Firefox, it appears to disrupt keyboard input in Firefox. For example, when attempting to add a newline in a Freshdesk ticket (by pressing Enter), new tabs are opened in Firefox instead.

This issue immediately resolves either after closing Thunderbird.

Could you provide any insights or suggestions on how to resolve this? It’s a consistent inconvenience in my workflow.

My password manager in TB 115 is not working correctly. I cannot remove entries. They will disappear as if they have been removed. BUT when I reopen the Saved Passwords they are still there.

Also some passwords that are displayed are not correct but I can still collect and send emails from the account.

E.G. I have a google account and I changed the password via Firefox. When I opened TB it prompted me for a password for that account. I entered one. It successfully logged in, BUT the password displayed by the password manager was still the old one.

in addition when password manager first opens it shows a lot of empty entries at the end of the list. Pressing delete in the last empty line will remove all the empty lines.

I keep getting a message to enter a new password and yet the password matches the one in the Settings password manager. I also recently transferred Thunderbird to a new computer and though I exported all my accounts and messages, there are now two sections with the same email, one that ends in August 2024 and the other with current messages. How do I merge these?

No matter what i do i get the same message-whether i change my password it makes no difference i cannot sign in my pc is ok but the installation on my wife has this problem any help I would be grateful-thanks

In the past, when I configured my Proton Mail account in Thunderbird, it would explicitly ask for a certificate approval right away.

Recently, it sends a notification (which is sometimes difficult to see) which you need to click to get the pop-up to approve the certificate.

I imagine this affects more than just Proton Mail accounts.

No error messages appear in Thunderbird. The status only shows "Checking mail server capabilities".

Was this behavior perhaps changed in a recent version?

I am using Thunderbird 128.5.2esr on Windows.

I have a calendar with a CalDAV connection through my hosting service. The CalDAV connection is fine, because it is working properly on my phone. However, when I try and add the calendar in Thunderbird I run into problems.

I have managed to create the calendar and Thunderbird did accept my login credentials. The calendar appears in the calendar menu, but it is not enabled. When I try and enable it, it immediately jumps back to "not enabled". What could be causing this, and how do I get around it?

Hi. I have removed the eng-US dictionary via settings, which informs me my only dictionaries are UK English and Welsh as I live in Wales and use the eng-UK as default. However, the email spell check keeps defaulting to US. How do I stop this from happening as it is very annoying and the dictionary needs to be reset to UK every use.

I can't move messages to my local folders: thunderbird only offers me the trash. These folders were created in ORANGE messaging but are clearly visible in thunderbird

I have not changed my email accounts or my Google & Microsoft usernames or passwords. A few days ago when I started Thunderbird, two Google pop-ups arrive reading "Mozilla Thunderbird Email wants to access your Google Account" demanding that I deny or allow it. Why might this be happening and how do I stop it? This does not occur with other email apps such as Outlook for Windows.

NYU has used gmail combined with shibboleth MFA for over a decade. When there's a password change, TB opens a window using it's own browser (n.b.: this is different than the browser used when clicking on a link) and you go from there. This morning I did my yearly password change and now, after the initial accounts.goole window, when I get redirected to the shibboleth window, I get a 403 error. I also get a warning about invalid certificate. I tried pressing the "Get Certificate" button, but nothing happens.

A few thing to note: - I run TB (128.5.2) on a Mac Sequoia - no issues when logging into NYU using Firefox or Chrome or Safari. - I cleared the TB cache and cookies. - I created a new TB profile and tried starting from scratch. - I restarted TB with add-ons disabled

Nothing seems to solve the problem. Unfortunately NYU's IT can provide only limited help with 3rd party apps like TB.

I really depend on using TB, been using since the first release and have add-ons that I use on a regular basis.

I've used Thunderbird for many years with a Gmail account. I access the account using both IMAP(993 SSL/TLS) and POP3 (995 SSL/TLS) via two different account definitions within TB.

I use POP3 to basically download and create an archive from the emails. That would work by POP3 pulling down emails to its own inbox and then a few Message filtering rules on that mailbox moving things into Local Folders (so the POP inbox would remain empty). Email would also be left on google servers. Email on the servers would be left in Unread state.

The IMAP account setup was maing for mobile access etc. This was basically separate to the POP3 tasks.

This has been working since 2011.

I recently notice though that emails weren't downloading via POP3. I've always had logging turned on, and that shows it last processed new email for the POP3 download back in August 2024.

I can't figure out whats broken. If I do a manual email-fetch, everything seems to run and it just seems to think there's no new email to pull down. But thats not true.

I've looked at the gmail settings and nothing looks different.

Is there some way I can debug further within TB to see whats happening ? The existing log just shows nothing at all.

I can pull a wireshark log of the POP3 comms if I switched away from SSL, but I'm not sure gmail supports that

Immediately after updating to version 128.x a few weeks ago, the Calendar app hangs every time I save an event or dismiss a reminder. It shows the spinning circle and Windows says "not responding" for 60-90 seconds at least every time. It was fine before this update but this issue started immediately after updating to 128.x - has anyone else seen this?

So, it looks like the the app "signature" is corrupted. How do I remove signature and and correct for valid signature. Thanks.

I had a university email account in Thunderbird, and then I attempted to delete the email from Thunderbird as it had been deactivated. I deleted its entries from saved passwords / the calendar. However, I'm still getting a googleapis.com login prompt every time I open Thunderbird, although I can find no references for it anywhere.

The answer to the linked question recommends checking the address book for a caldav link to the old account, but I don't see anything like that so either I'm looking in the wrong place or that's not my problem.

I appreciate the help, I love Thunderbird but this is getting really annoying.

All the emails (about 100) suddenly disappeared from one of my folders. They are there when I search, but the program won't open them. In the explorer, in the profile folder, both the 'cur' and 'tmp' folders are empty. I didn't delete them, nor were they moved to another folder. I tried the 'repair folder' method, but it didn't help. How can I somehow bring them back?

Is there is a way to remove the icon for the set "columns to display" since that can be accessed by context menu. And is there a way to resize just that row? Not the emails but just the from,size,attachments...etc row?

Such an annoying problem with current version 128.5.2esr. On one notebook with Windows 11 Hone I install the latest version (no Thunderbird previously installed), works fine.

One another notebook with Windows 11 Home existing Thunderbird freezes. After startup it just hangs, using so much CPU, that the battery is half drained after 30 minutes. Then reinstalling does not help. The same issue persists.

I read that uninstall does not remove the profiles and that cause the issues. Is that possible. Feature request. Also it would be fine to have the option to remove the profile on uninstall, so the non-tech savy user has also a chance of using this client.
