thunder 60.0 does not look correct on my win7 computer
I have tried several times to download and install Thunderbird 60.0 now. I did not uninstall the older version i just updated over it. I did not want to uninstall it totally because i would lose all my drafts and contacts in address book. when i did install Thunderbird 60.0 over my existing 52.9.1
I lose my addon which I like and I get a page that comes up for a second before it gets to my in box. will send below for you to see what comes up. not sure I like the 60.0 version Is is Imperative that I update to 60.0? any way any help will do. I have contacted Just Answer on this problem and dell Tech support and no one has been able to help me.
Below is the page that comes up when I click on the Thunderbird icon on my desktop. Please respond my email ismdm54@comcast.net the page below shows what comes up for a second or 2 when I click on the desktop icon to open Thunderbird. Does not bring me directly to my in box I get htis page first then i get the inbox.
Thanks Mary

Perhaps this could have been resolved many messages ago. In all of this mess did anyone ask (or answer) this simple question ...
What add-on is the issue??
when i first tried downloading 60.00 i did it over the one i currently am using 52.9.1 I did not do a clean install . I did it as an update. did not know it had to be a clean install. in the past Thunderbird updates were done automatically so i thought i could do it that way.The very first time I tried installing it was from a site called ninite. Did not like it so I had a tech from Just answer bring me back to the version i am using now 52.9.1. then i went to filehippo to install it. went back to 52.9.1 and then went directly to the thunderbird page. all with the same result. look at the above post and you will see what i get when i try to install the update
i hit the wrong button it is not solved
this is not solved
where is the official site to download it from

Let us repeat the above question
Maybe, but we could not even get the OP to confirm what version they were actually using. That would have bee a start.
iot was not the fault of an add on . because when i installed it there were no addons all the legacy add on s i had were not compatible with 60.0. so it was not the fault of an add onif you read the previous messages 60.0 did not bring me directly to my inbox there was the account page that would come up for a second or 2 then my inbox showed up as I stated I did not do a clean install I tried to install over what I already had 52.9,.1. I figured it was an update and it could be just updated over it. no add on/ extention was a t fault
this page comes up for a few seconds then it brings me to my in box when I click the Thunderbird desktop icon. thatb what this whole mess is about why this page comes up and why it does not take me to my inbox dorectly
I am using 52.9.1 was trying to download 60.0. i kept saying 6.0 when in actuality I was trying to get 60.0 the newest version. I am using Firefox61.0.2 I am as of right now using Thunderbird 52.9.1. I have Thunderbird configured to work through Comcast.mail. have had it that way for years. It is a pop3 account not an Imap account
I am fully content to stay with 52.9.1 but if it comes to the point where it is imperative that I have to update future versions I will.

PC = Personal Computer. You can do anything you want. I never upgrade until the version numbers get to xx.2 or xx.3. By then the startup bugs are mostly gone.
I was going to do a clean install so she could use the 6.0 i was trying to get her to that point to back all her settings, maybe they should express to not install on top of older versions and make sure to help user by updating from Thunderbird client. this option is useless if no one expresses to use it..
DOI HAVET O UPDATE IT EVER?

no just if you wanted the new fixed part like he said you can wait till its more finalized, i do cause as a service provider i have to work bugs out in case i get calls on it at my company, i do a lot of linux services very limited on windows cause i'm not a Microsoft fan. but i know it well only because i schooled computer probably before most people has i studied computer since 80's dos 4.0 then windows 3.1 and linux to now. i choose to use the newer, why would you force users to beta test if it wasn't ready? if it wasn't ready to use, then why should user have to deal with the bugs it's got?
examples like windows there is now 4 versions of 10 because again they put the users at risk, that's why i waited 2 years before i change a windows i had windows 2000 xp and 7 before anyone did and the 8 i knew the bugs i knew how to fix them.

I was going to do a clean install so she could use the 6.0
Version 6.0 was last modified in October 2015. How do you figure that was doing them any kind of favor.

because doing a clean install would let her install it (winks) she tried to install it, by upgrading it wouldn't on windows 7, because hmm i did install it clean no upgrade, she installed on top of the old version..... "her post when i first tried downloading 60.00 i did it over the one i currently am using 52.9.1 I did not do a clean install." I did it as an update."
Wayne Mery stated it might be a addon that is causing the issues that would make sense first off, secondly i do this everyday for a living. i don't sit behind a pc and play by posting old post that don't have reference to newer stuff 60 is the newer tb based on downloads so if it was produced 2015 then the beta time has past correct? please do enlighten me. if it was produced in 2015 then why wait till 2018 to release it hmmjm maybe cause Mozilla wanted to wait til the new firefox matched tb? as it is now firefox 60.1 and tb is 60.0 so your question again is reference to? and to do a fresh clean install would do a lot better favor then to fight fixing issues with errors, but as i said Wayne pointed out, if shes using an add on that would pose as the issues. if not then doing a upgrade was the problem and could be a windows error of issue, or the conflict of the older version to the new version these are proper methods in checking.

The 6.0 as you can see was a typo as the OP was really referring to 60.0 and not 6.0
https://www.thunderbird.net/thunderbird/releases/
Mozilla the maker of desktop Firefox does not wait nor match the Thunderbird community that makes Thunderbird.
The current versions for desktop Firefox is 61.0.2 Release and 60.1.0 ESR and for Thunderbird it is 60.0
