messages don't open

When I opened my email today, I got a pane telling me about the changes to version 45 in email. I didn't update or change my email. I closed that pane, and tried to access my messages. When I click on the message to open it, I get the word "loading" and nothing else happens. Neither new or older messages will open and display in reading pane.
