What all are you blocking on www.pch.com? I changed my password so the only damage would be to that site. I enjoy using the points to enter the contests for items. That is the only time a password is entered and it doesn't stay on the computer very long. I have noticed that my computer is using a lot more memory and slowing down since you started blocking the games on this site.

Hi steveb5758, could you describe this problem more specifically?

 • Can you open the site or do you get an error message? If you get an error message, please copy/paste the error text.
 • Are you getting a warning on the login form that it is not a secure login? Usually that's not in the way of using the form but, if it is, pressing the Esc key once usually clears it. More info below the line.
 • What is slowing down exactly?

Firefox 52-55 shows a "slashed lock" and message on the login form on pages that use an insecure HTTP connection instead of a secure HTTPS connection. This is to remind you that your login is not protected from interception because there is no encryption on HTTP connections, your username and password are sent out over the network as plain text. Per the Insecure connection password warning in Firefox article, it looks like this:

That warning panel should appear below the user name and/or password field, but depending on the site's styling, it might block the field. In that case, you can clear it by tapping the Esc key.

Sometimes if I am on a page with an insecure login form and I enter asdf in both the username and password, the site switches me to a secure error page where I can enter my real login.

If you do not want to see the warning on your HTTP logins, you can remove it permanently as follows:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste insec and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the security.insecure_field_warning.contextual.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

(4) Assume this login could be easily stolen and avoid re-using it on important sites

I tried steps (1) through (3) above, but the greyed out lock symbol with the red slash is still there at www.pch.com/games. Either the games are very slow to play or take a long time to display the next game. It also increases the memory used to where the games wont play. I did not have any where near this much trouble before the last upgrade and the new security.

The "slashed" lock identifies a non-secure page; it's just for information. That started way back in Firefox 51 and is very unlikely to cause games to be slow.

Is this the only site that runs slowly, or is it a more general issue? This article might be interesting: Quick fixes if your Firefox slows down.
