TB (POP) downloads most messages from gmail but misses some. The missing are are visible on Gmail web interface.
TB 52.6beta, Windows 7 Ultimate, TB set for POP3.
Worked OK for long time (with previous versions). No known changes in setup. Now TB downloads most email messages from Gmail but randomly(?) misses 3-10 percent of them, just skipping over them. Repeated efforts to download get "no new mail" message.
Typically the missed message is one of a dozen or so OK ones, but sometimes I get a cluster (3-6) consecutive messages missed. Variety of senders, no obvious pattern. Not moved into SPAM/Trash on Gmail or on local.

POP downloads from the inbox. If you use the important folder and other pseudo inboxes gmail offer as options then the mail in them is not downloaded by the POP protocol.
Thanks, but that's not the problem here -- I don't label and/or assign mail to pseudo mailboxes.

unless you have actively turned it off then yes you do. The important folder is a default Gmail thing. as is friends and family
I have this same problem, and have turned off all folders! I even unchecked the "important" folder. Everything. This is a recent problem. It just started a few days ago. I even have reverted to the old gmail, but in two weeks I cannot do that. I have to manually download the messages by clicking on "get messages." Clearly, something has changed and the auto download is now broken. Can someone help us?

I have posted on your topic, but I think your issue is probably your anti virus product.
