After a crash, the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" option upon new start doesn't work anymore; it just opens the homepage.

Firefox stalled, I had to close it through the Task Manager. After this, upon a new start (which was kind of difficult) it just opened the home page. I went to the options and noticed that in principle, the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" was still checked, but id did not work. I changed to "show a blank page", it worked; then to "show my home page", it worked; then finally to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" again, but it did not work. I couldn't make this option work yet, although it looks as properly checked.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

Thanks. It eventually solved by itself after by chance I closed Firefox with the "Exit" button in the File menu instead of with the red "x" at the right corner of the screen, as I usually do. After starting Firefox again, it reopened two windows: one just with the homepage and one with all previous tabs. I closed the window with the homepage, kept working on the other and from that moment always worked again. Weird, but it's ok now.
