1. How do I put an application or web page on my desktop? 2. Why, when I close out of a web page will Firefox NOT let me close just the one page I am on instead of closing them all?
Dear Folks, I am a new user. Here are my questions: 1. When I am in, say, Application B, how do I create an application icon shortcut on my desktop for Application B? It is easy to do in Internet Explorer. 2. Internet Explorer has a "Favorite Places" function. Where is that function in Firefox? 3. If I have more than one page open in Internet Explorer I have the option of closing just the page I am on without closing all the open pages. How can I have that function in Firefox?
Thank you, Jim Sullivan

Oh. You mean placing an URL on your desktop, directly... No feature as far as I know for that. Yet.
I know about that IE feature, not present in Firefox.

First, thanks for downloading Firefox :)
- What do you mean with an application icon shortcut, actually? You mean one of those app tabs? Just right click on a tab and press "Pin as App Tab".
- Favorite places? You mean websites you often visit? I have to be honest with you, it's well hidden. Just go to Bookmarks > Bookmarks Toolbar > Most visited.
- Not implemented like that yet, but I usually middle mouse click on the tab I want to close...
Hope this helps you :')
Thanks Chris. Actually, I want to put a shortcut on my desktop screen, not in the tab bar. To do this in IE, I simply right click while I am in the app, a drop down menu appears, and I click on Create a Shortcut. Then when I later turn on my PC and my desktop screen appears, I simply click on the icon for that app (on the Desktop screen) to go directly to it. Does Firefox have this option?
Also, in Internet Explorer if I have more than one tab open and I go to X out of the tab I am in at the moment, I am given the option of closing all open tabs or just the one I am Xing out of. Does Firefox have this option? Thanks, Jim

Happy to help ;')
Seems to me that you can create a desktop shortcut in Firefox. See
