The bar across the top of my screen, I believe you call it the Apps Gallery, has a blank space the whole width of the screen with only a "Plus Sign" on the right hand side. I have no intention of using this space for anything, so I would like to eliminate it. Naturally, I want the address bar, but that is basically all I need up there.

How can I shrink up this empty space?

Tools > Options > Tabs = un-check Always show the tab bar

I had the same problem and found it very annoying. I don't want to use it anyway.. Luckily I found a way to deactivate this gallery bar..

Tools --> addons --> deactivate 'conduit engine'.

Hi BoDill, I think the empty space you're talking about is called the tabs bar, not the apps gallery.

The edmeister's solution will work if you have a Tools menu. But you may be on a version without a Tools menu (e.g. if you're on Windows 7 and have only the orange "Firefox" menu button in the upper left). Click that and then click "Options", then click "Tabs", then un-check "always show the tab bar".

Hope that helps, --Jono Xia, Mozilla

Or you could maximize the window. See the attached screenshot for reference.

Unchecking Tabs didn't help. I couldn't find "conduit engine" in addons. I don't know how to maximize the window? By the way, I have Windows XP.
