Thunderbird won't let me change/edit my password
After problems with BT email I changed my password in my BT account online. Normally next time I opened Thurnderbird in these circumstances it would say my password didn't work and ask me for the new one. This time however it just says "server error". When I looked in the forum for how to change my password, I was told Options/Security/Saved passwords. This takes me to a saved log ins page but it will not allow me to edit the password. The only option offered is to delete the lot!! Can anyone help me please? I can receive email but only via BT online at the moment.

No worries. I've solved it. What the instructions in the previous post didn't mention is that you have to right click on the line of information, which will access a change password option. Silly old moi for not working that one out immediately!
What version of Thunderbird are you using? The ability to edit logins and passwords was added "recently" i.e. in the last year or two.
Prior to the introduction of the editing feature, removing the specific login from that password store was the recommended practice.
Note that there are generally two logins, one for SMTP/outgoing and another for POP/IMAP/incoming. You almost always need to attend to both entries.
Having removed the old logins, you should close and restart Thunderbird and hopefully it will ask you for the missing password(s) as and when needed.

When you get to the password page click Show passwords to activate the Edit password prompt.
So it works like this...
Options-Security-Passwords-Saved passwords-Show Passwords Right click the password in question and select Edit password
Thank you, Airmail. This solves.
