Can not select USB Camera

more options

Hi, I can't select a USB Camera I have installed. It does not show as an available option in Firefox. Firefox will only allow me to use the default camera that is built into the laptop. I do not have this issue in other browsers. I can use the default camera. I have re-installed the camera drivers. Thanks for any help! Dave

Hi Dave, does this problem occur on all sites, or only sites you already visited and granted camera permission? As a test, you could take a look at this page and see whether Firefox detects and lists your USB camera in the permission drop-down:

https://mdn-samples.mozilla.org/s/webrtc-capturestill/

For sites where you already granted permission, you can remove it using the camera permission settings dialog and see whether you can get the full list again. Open the Options page using either:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the search box at the top of the page, type cam and Firefox should filter to the Permissions section where you can click the "Settings" button on the Camera row.

To remove the permission setting for a site, highlight it and click the Remove button, then click Save Changes to complete the process.

Any difference if you return to the page where you want to select camera and reload it?
