can't rearrange items on the bookmarks toolbar
Since updating to the latest version of Firefox (45.0.1) I can't rearrange items on the bookmarks toolbar, I can't drag to new position on the tool bar and I can't drag item from the address bar to the bookmarks bar to save them like I could before.
Using Windows 7 and all worked before latest Firefox update.

Here is the problem: ReminderFox is causing 2 issues with Firefox 45. One is that tabs cannot be moved with click and drag. The other is that Firefox itself does not completely close on exit. Its' process continues to run in Windows Task Manager. Until a fix is released, the author has asked users to disable the Foxy Alerts Slider in the ReminderFox settings. This resolves both issues.
you can download older version 2.1.5.2.1and everything works well now just have to find how to stop it from updating to newer version.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

I have reloaded Fire fox and turned off hardware acceleration but that did not help,,,, I did notice that if I start Firefox and immediatly go to the bookmarks tool bar I can start to move a bookmmarks item but that only lasts for the first few seconds after starting Firefox then I can't move bookmmarks items to rearrange, all other items seem to be working.
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
- Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
I did turn off hardware acceleration and it did not help fix the problem, unfortunately safe mode seems to remove the bookmarks tool bar so I can't try the tool bar in safe mode.
As I said before everything worked ok till the latest Firefox update, is there anyway I can get the older version back? If I get the older version back how can I prevent automatic updating so I can keep the older version?
Thanks for the help!
Hi, using an old version is really not recommended for security reasons.
If you have a theme or any add-ons try disabling them temporarily. If that resolves the issue, re-enable them one by one until you find the culprit - Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A > Extensions).
If that doesn't help, try clicking on Restore Defaults in the 3-bar menu > Customize. More here - Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.
If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.
