I've used Tab Mix Plus (TMP) which is a great extension but this is not supported any more since Firefox 57. I think this was (hopefully still is) one of the best and most useful extensions on Firefox. None of the suggested replacement extensions seems to have what I'm looking for. I mainly used TMP for opening links in a new tab or opening bookmarks automatically in a new tab. I know you can open a new tab with Right mouse click and 'Open in a New Tab' but that's not what I'm looking for.My questions are: 1) Can you set Firefox to open all links with a LEFT mouse click by default without any add-on extensions? 2) Can you set Firefox to open all bookmarks with a LEFT mouse click by default without any add-on extensions? 3) If the answer is no to either or both questions from above, are there any add-on extensions out there that allow these features?

Hi, you cannot open links with a left click, but in addition to the right click you know about, you can click the mouse wheel or hold down Ctrl when you click the link. Also see these add-ons -

If you want only bookmarks to open in a new tab, type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to browser.tabs.LoadBookmarksInTabs and double click the entry to change 'Value' from False toTrue. Note, there is currently no setting to do this with links.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Hi Scribe, Thanks for the answer. Tap to Tab works like a spell. Changing the config of browser.tabs.LoadBookmarksInTabs also solved the problem. Thanks again.

Those addons are nonsense!! It is NOT the addon i used to have when clicking on a link when doing a search a new tab opened. Now, with these addons I have new tabs opening all over the place no matter what I click on including emails, etc. So exhausting trying to find my place with 50 tabs openings. I JUST WANT A NEW TAB TO OPEN WHEN i OPEN A LINK, THAT'S ALL I WANT! I wouldn't be complaining about this if I hadn't had this working just fine last month. Something happened! No, I'm not using any downloaded sites for tabs or anything of the sort. I'm only using plain old Firefox 60.0.1
