lol you can turn that off i opted out of sending data to Google. and i have a heads up for you dude ever time you use a search engine that company gets your IP and they no were your at. so its not just Google doing it. its every search engine on the net. even Microsoft your own windows system is doing it. so if your so a fraid of your data getting out better just unplug your system from the net.

WTF firefox is so fucked up use Google chrome. every database is spying on you every search engine gets your IP address. if they wanted to find you they can. opt out of the google thing its easy. Even Microsoft is spying on you its old news google just tells you about it. and its a option to opt out of sending data to them. there search engine uses some of it to fetch what your looking for so what. so dose every other search engine out there yahoo. bing to name a few. if you dont like it unplug your computer its the best whey not to feel violated. lol get a clue dude you cant hide on the net.

It seems to load up my session fine, and then after a few minutes, it grinds to a halt. Text appears several seconds after I type it, Task Manager says Firefox is maxing out one core of my CPU, and browser menus often fail to fully appear when you open them.

As with one or two of the above posters, I had been using Google Docs, and this session, with it closed, I'm seeing no symptoms. I can't guarantee that's the only thing that's changed though as I closed a few tabs to try and narrow it down before having to kill the process and start again, and I've repeated this process 2 or 3 times so it's possible I had this issue when Docs was already closed.

I spoke too soon - no Google Docs at all this session, but it's gone back to maxing one core out and being very unresponsive.

The best way to lose all your users.........

I work on an old powerbook G4 1.25Ghz, 1GO RAM, macos 10.4.11. The facts: - scrolling with 3 tabs is very slow (80 to 100%CPU) with 3.6.6 and ok with 3.5.10 (40 to 80% CPU). - when idle, ff3.6 cpu %load is a bit less than with ff3.5

Firefox 3.6.3 works great on my windows xp sp3 on a Pentium 4 Northwood 3.0Ghz with 3 GB RAM

Firefox3.6.6 is slow as hell and freezes, crashing computer :(

Firefox 3.6.3 and a new profile (like suggested some posts earlier)...works like a charme. Won't update till fixed!

Same with me. It takes a long time for pages to open and sometimes the page freezes for minutes before it will finally open up... What's wrong?

Mozilla has got to be embarrassed that they released such a piece of garbage in Firefox 3.6.6.

I just updated to 3.6.6 and now am having problems with FF. When I check task manager I find that plugin-container.exe is using almost of my CPU.

I have read that many users are having problems with plugin-container.exe. I went back to version 3.5 because that was the last one I had downloaded.

Does anyone know how I can get to version 3.6?

Im on Windows 7, but have been experiencing similar problems.

Set to "No Proxy" under options > Advanced > Network > Settings

ran everything exactly as i did when Firefox would lock up (several tabs with several different flash apps, and downloading large file), and checked the memory and cpu use which were both significantly reduced. Things seem fine for now ^_^

Slow to load, slower to open the first page, slow as hell from then on. XP pro on a 3-year-old Lonovo desktop, which rips through my graphics and CADwork otherwise. It just auto-updated to 3.6.7, and it is just as bad.

Sooo, whats these Chrome and Safari progs that people keep mentioning? Might give them a try, because I sure can't afford to waste my time waiting for Firefox to catch up with reality.

Weeks of TRASH = FIREFOX 3.66

All three of my computers have been totally worthless since I upgraded to FF3.66. Each are built/configured differently. Each has a different OS. Each has all the above problems. Crashes constantly, RAM & CPU usage on a Q9650 is always near 100%. After screwing around for days I finally came here and found out that I was among a very large and upset group of users. With the last few upgrade I've had minor problems with my selection of add-ons Firefox disabled them for a later fix. I found a new DL today, 3.67 so I installed it figuring the problem was addressed. After installation of 3.67 it still says it's 3.66??

I went to their site to find help from them and couldn't get anyplace until I came here and read about my problem. Thanks for giving me a clear head so I could find a good solution.

My solution was to remove all Mozilla/Firefox products and then install other browsing options. It felt funny because for the first time in years I had to use Microsoft Internet Explorer to find other options. My computer is problem free and fast as usual now.

I wonder how many other users have abandoned them due to this BS?? I for one will probably stick with my new choices now.

Yes, on my computer(s), something was killing performance. I mean, really, really killing performance. I finally figured out it was Firefox 3.6.6, and if I turned off Java Script, there would be no problem.

Of course, everything needs javascript, so I'm using Chrome much more.

If I turn JavaScript on, it will take about an hour, but the whole system will move like maple syrup in December... finally, I might get a message saying some js script is stalled, blah blah.

I switched to FF 3.5.10 trying to dodge this problem, but I've noticed FF becomes slower and slower the longer it's been running. Just (trying to) open bookmark folders becomes an intolerable experience. What I've noticed is that memory occupied by firefox (as reported by taskmgr on my win 2k sp4 system) just keeps growing the longer the program's been running, until I exit, wait a few seconds, and restart it. Perhaps ff or windows (or both) just end up spending all of their time managing memory (that's clearly not actually being used, because this slowdown of navigating FF's own bookmark mechanism happens even while no web page is being viewed - a blank screen).

So -- Mozilla, are you listening? -- this really needs an overhaul *bad*.

Well, a couple of days ago I was updated to Firefox 3.6.7, but it doesn't seem to be working any better for me than horrible 3.6.6 was. Their both garbage! Please, Mozilla, either go back to one of the versions of Firefox that works properly, or else fix 3.6.7.

Same for me. Firefox really sucks at the moment. I'm using (or rather struggling with) FF och both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux. On both platforms it's a BIG pain in the a**.

Strange, I thought and hoped that someone would have learned the Netscape-lesson by now.

plugin_container seens to be the joke of the year so far! Please get rid of that crap!
