why warning at FF35 start "Norton Conf not protected by FF35, FF1.5 reqd for Phish Protn"; makes no sense.
After shutdown or restart, when I first open Firefox 35.0.1 a window appears:
"This version of Firefox is not supported by Norton Confidential. You will not be protected while browsing the Web. Norton Confidential cannot protect you while you use this version of Firefox. Phishing Protection requires Firefox 1.5 or later."
I delete the window and all seems well, but the message makes no sense, with two radically different Firefox versions. Do I have a problem? If not how can I permanently delete the window?

Yep, quite nonsensical - but that's Norton for ya. Those questions are best answered by Norton support.
The old Norton Confidential has long since been replaced by Norton Identity Safe. https://identitysafe.norton.com
Which explains why it mention the old Firefox 1.5
I spent some considerable time on chat with Norton support but they were unable to resolve my "problem". They did not mention the change to Identity Safe, so I will follow-up with them. From what you have said it sounds like it is a real non-problem! - thanks. I will provide feedback.
Norton says that Identity Safe is only for iOS and Android; I use OS 10.6.8. I have finally identified the small image on the left in the warning window as the Phishing Protection toolbar(?), and since my Norton Confidential indicates complete Phishing Protection, I will stop worrying! Thanks for your help.
Remember that Firefox includes all the features norton confidential has, and Firefox is actually being actively updated and maintained, unlike norton confidential. I'd suggest just removing it since it's a pointless piece of software
Thank you , but I have tried to remove it, and failed miserably - it overlays the Firefox window and responds to nothing in Firefox, Finder, or Norton, except "OK" each time it comes up! Any further suggestions would be welcome - it's just an irritant so my default position is "suck it up"!
