Search engine preferences reset to default whenever I change system language
I change the language of my device from Japanese to English with a certain frequency, and every time I do that, Firefox 85 forgets that I deleted all other search providers other than DuckDuckGo, and defaults to Amazon. It's pretty annoying.
I have no addons installed and this has been happening since a fresh install of both my OS and the app. Is there an about:config hack I can do to permanently cripple Firefox's insistence on undoing my settings?

I tried this on my phone. If I change language from English (US) to English(Australia), I do not see the behavior you describe. If I change language from English (US) to Korean, I see that a number of alternate search engines show up which were not in the English setting. But when I went back to English (US), the settings went back to what I had originally.
I don't know how this is implemented, but I'm suspecting that there are a number of default search engines which are region-specific and when you change language, it tries to change search engines appropriately.
I deleted all engines except DuckDuckGo in both English and Korean, but when I switch languages, it automatically adds some region-specific search engines for that region. I notice that since I deleted Google, that one does not re-appear. and DuckDuckGo was set as my default, and it stayed my default in both languages. Maybe it was because I had selected DuckDuckGo as my default before I started deleting other engines.
It would be nice if the browser remembered which search engines were deleted in each region so that they do not re-appear when you choose that language again.
