Adding email accounts

Have used thunderbird in the past but left to another client. Downloaded thunderbird again and tried to add accounts. Added a new outlook account with no problem. Tried to add 2 gmail accounts (both on previous usage of TB) Accepts and recognises password, Transfers to Google, password works no problem and TB reqirements to access account accepted. But on return to TB claims it cannot access server (Google presumably) On opening the Outlook account, up to date emails, from one of the gmail accounts are there. Possibly a hangover from previous usage. But cannot send gmails.

I How do I get my gmail accounts in? Can I clear all the info stored about previoud usage of TB to make a clean break?

A new profile can be created, without affecting the current profile. Help/More Troubleshooting, about:profiles, to create and manage profiles. Gmail accounts should add correctly with the default settings. If one of the gmail accounts is downloaded to an outlook account, that may be because the outlook account is set to collect the gmail messages, as set in outlook webmail.

Check that there is a separate smtp server for each account, and each account is set to send through the smtp with a matching User Name. Give each account a unique Account Name in Account Settings, and each smtp a unique Description.
