good evening pillsbury!
You can take a look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them#w_moving-bookmarks-to-another-computer to transfer your bookmarks from one computer to another using either Firefox Sync or a manual backup.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them#w_manual-backup That will tell you how to manually back up your files and the above will link show you how to restore them to your new Firefox configuration.
Let us know if it works!
Thanks.
i checked UNHIDE FOLDERS in the folder options menu in control panel. i dont see "profiles" in the mozilla folder
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
this is not helpful in my situation. somebody recommended go into organize bookmarks , import and backup, choose file (json file)
but i dont have the organize bookmarks option to pick from
To get a json file you also need find the old profile, because Firefox does backups automatically of your bookmarks, but they stay also saved in the profile.
You need to find the old profile, in your case the way is look like this:
Old drive:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
if you get this folder try follow the instructions above!
By default the AppData folder is hidden. To reveal it: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
i found the folder. problem is what to do with it,
i can see the folder
You can either copy the places.sqlite file to the current profile folder or restore the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup (bookmarks-####-##-##_xx.json) in the bookmarkbackups folder.
Note the this replaces all current bookmarks, so if you need to preserve any then make an HTML backup (importing an HTML backup merges the bookmarks).
If you want to transfer more data, see:
