Can't get to any tabs, which are scrolled off right side of screen. Initially, the tab control buttons are there. But scroll left, to try and select a tab, off the right side of the window, and as soon as one of these tabs are selected (attempted to be selected), the 'scroll', 'add', and 'list' buttons disappear, and the tabs scroll all the way to the left. The clicked tab is not selected.

Yes, it's an old XP, hooked to an analog TV - my media player.

Firefox still "supports" that and even smaller resolutions, but most webpages are just too wide for an 800px width monitor. Firefox follows the coding on the webpage to "draw" the minimum specified width for each page, and when that page is wider than the monitor can display completely the horizontal scroll bar appears.

Thanks. That was fast!

I guess it's a bug, then. It's not a problem with normal web pages, but your special pages, such as 'customize'.

So set screen resolution to 800x600. Open enough tabbed pages, to get 'scroll' buttons and a 'list all tabs' button. Now open 'customize'. Then select one of the other tabs. Finally try to get back to the 'customize' tab, and watch the behavior of the tabs and tab buttons.

I didn't check to see if about:config also has this problem.

Oh, and prior to v29, no problem...

MusicLovr:

I just tried this out (Ubuntu hung every time I took a screenshot in 800x600 and had to restart every time) and it looks okay to me. The about:customization page looks fine to me, but a little piece is missing. about:config looks good. See screenshots. Does yours differ from mine?

If I resize the Firefox window to the minimum width 300 then Firefox increases the window to 831 if I open the customize window and can't be resized to a lower width as long as customize is open for me on Linux.
The latter (resize) can be done in the current beta release (30), but this doesn't give a workable Customize palette (about 818 seems to be the minimum).
They should fix the bug that you can't see and modify the full width of the Navigation Toolbar if there is content in a chevron drop-down list.

Such issues can be caused by having buttons or data provided by an extension on a visible toolbar that take extra space.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

I'll post a screenshot, later, today.

Again, the problem does not show up, unless there are enough tabs, so that tab scroll buttons show up. Please try opening 'config', with at least 7 other tabs open - then switch between tab1 and tab8 (config), using the scroll arrows, and clicking on tabs. After selecting tab1, then the config tab(8), all tab navigation buttons go away.

I'll also verify if I see this on only the new config page, or about:config and addon pages, as well.

Also, I'll see if this could be related to accessibility options. I have larger fonts selected - a further sort of corner-case, perhaps.

All was fine and dandy, until 29.0.1.

Addons, and about:config still work fine. Options is too big for screen, but can move window to get to close button. But 'customize' is not good. I double checked, on Win7 @ 800x600. Same deal. Here's a screenshot (Win7).

And co-rel: thanks for the infos, but I do believe this is an issue with the customize window at low resolution, and perhaps with large (125%) font size.
