Why does Firefox 3.6.12 truncate attachment file names containing blank spaces (Windows)?

Whenever someone sends me an attachment and I save it, Firefox truncates the file name if the file name contains blank spaces. I am running 3.6.12 under Windows 2000 SP4 right now. But this behavior has persisted for a long time, with earlier versions of Firefox and under Windows XP. Unfortunately, I cannot control the names of attachments people send me. As an example, if someone sends me a file named "file name.doc" (without quotes, of course), Firefox either displays it (via Micro$oft Word) or saves it as "file.doc". If I receive "filename.doc", that's how it gets saved.

Okay. What I see is what I get, then.  ;>( It's a pain that I do not have with other browsers, e.g. IE (GAG!) or Opera.
