I am unable to load videos www.allrecipes.com. Used to work up until recently. Work fine in IE.
Up until a week or two ago, I was able to play videos on this web site, but now, they no longer load. I have updated all addins and plugins that may have been needed but still no luck. All other video sources seem to work fine, just a problem on Allrecipes.com. Have no problem loading them if I switch to Internet Explorer.

Have not had time to troubleshoot all of the addons due to the holidays, etc... But I just went to the site and now all of the videos are working fine. The only change I made recently was to update Adobe Flash Player plugin. I had downgraded some time ago to version 10 due to constant player crashes and found that solved that problem so I took a shot at at updating it again. Not sure if this did the trick or not but videos are now working as they used to. I want to thank all of you for your support and suggestions on this forum.

Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:
- Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
- Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
- Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
- From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
- Now click the Clear now button.
Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.
Thank you for your reply to my issue with videos not loading on allrecipes.com. I tried clearing the browsing cache and cookies but that did not resolve the problem. Yesterday, I turned on my laptop for the first time in close to a month and before any updates and Firefox syncs could be done I went to the website and the videos played fine. After rebooting it today they still play fine. I suspect that something else like Java or Adobe Flash may be causing a conflict and I have not updated those yet so I will do that next and see if the videos still play. Both of those are required to play them on allrecipes.com per their support team. Any other suggestions are welcome in the meantime. Also plan to try running it in "safe mode" as a test too.
Type about:addons in URL and Goto Plugins
- Check all the plugins are "Always Active"
Somewhere on the page right click, go to view page info > permissions and make sure that adobe flash content is allowed to play on that domain.
Flash in Protected mode occurs issues too
Thank you for the additional information. Checked all the addons and they are all enabled. Page info permissions shows those plugins area enabled and allowed as well. Very strange.
Hello,
In order to better assist you with your issue please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?
Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.
Thank you!
If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
I have 3 different PC's running Windows XP Pro and 7. My Firefox settings are synchronized so all 3 have the same addons and plugins but 2 of the 3 won't load the video and the third loads just fine.
All I get is a continually spinning arrow where the video should load. See attached screen shot as requested.
Does running Firefox in Safe Mode has any effect?
You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:
- On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
- On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
- Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Just tried safe mode and videos load just fine. Now the video starts out with an ad. Could Adblock Plus be the culprit?
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)
Yes, I realize that is exactly what I need to do and will do it as soon as I can. Will post the offending add-on/extension once I find out. I appreciate all the help I have been given so far in this forum.
That recipe video does have a "pre-roll" ad, so you might need to create an exception for the site.
