firefox hangs after last update, after closing with task manager shows msg "plugin container for firefox stopped working"
firefox hangs after last updates regularly, after closing down with task manger the msg "plugin container for firefox stopped working" appears. other problem after last update occurs when i open firefox - nearly always it shows the msg "Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page." No matter if I open firefox completely new or if I do it after closing down via task manager. (virus scan is running on a daily and detailed on a weekly basis)

The same with me; YouTube, embedded videos, voting radio buttons on wwww.totalcar.hu etc. they all hang. I need to shut down the process "plugin container for firefox". What is happening?
I've only noticed it when I'm surfing youtube. The whole firefox hangs, or freezes, but strangely, the sound of the video can still be heard playing.
Hope someone gives a solution quick.
It is enough to shoot down the process "plugin container", then a sad Lego face appears in place of the YouTube screen. A reload sometimes helps but sometimes it hangs again.
Funny, this plugin container feature. I have never had any such collapses, so there was no need to be able to close just the plugin. Now that there is a feature to solve a problem that never existed before, the problem appeared, too...
I just want to know how to shut off the plugin container. When I use task manager to end it, it won't run plugins at all. How do I undo this last update, that fixed nothing and caused problems?
We use an online system at work which allows us to click on wav files and hear them using the Quicktime plugin. Without fail, anytime FireFox updates, the Quicktime plugin then no longer works properly. Sometimes the file will play but the graphics that open in the window do not display properly. More often than not, as in the case with the new Firefox update, the window for the Quicktime plugin appears but the graphics do not display correctly and the file does not play. Specifically in the case of this update it also causes FireFox to hang and become unusable. This occurs even if Quicktime is uninstalled and then reinstalled. It happens with every update and not sure if its all plugins or not as Quicktime is the one our business is dependent on for the work we do.
That must hurt... When I am fed up with all the hassle I use Chrome for a change. And Quicktime has updated just now. I have not tried it yet, needs a reboot which I hate.
Anyway, Firefox 3.5 is still available for download at the Mozilla website and support is offered until 20th August. Is it worth while to revert to that one? Or is the direct predecessor of this 3.6.x available somewhere?
mine is hanging too, what can i do to get rid of the problem.
Hey "Zsolto Today 12:48 PST" -- don't use my nick, please, there are plenty other nicks out there available :)
Update
Ok so after uninstalling quicktime then scrubbing the hard drives for any and all associated files/folders and then cleaning the registry, rebooting then reinstalling quicktime it works, but only 60 % of the time (seems as though if you have opened any kind of drop down list or used a diff plugin on that page already the quicktime plugin and firefox hang. If you open the page and use the quicktime plugin before anything else it semms to be ok.
Zsolto Chrome really!!!!! With the amount of information gathered by Google and the things they do with it which are borderline criminal if not criminal why on earth would you use such a program???
There is an open source version out there created by other people that is just as good and doesn't monitor your every move.

It's too bad a fix for something that doens't exist actually makes everything worse :(

And yesss -- problems gone. C'mon guys, follow my example :)
seriously firefox is getting worse each time. pdf's not loading, plugin crashes.. cant believe i might reconsider IE....
Same here on linux, after routinely upgradin (in ubuntu 10.04 LTS) as suggested by the update manager. this is serious, i had to install another browser to be able to type this, and try to find a solution.
I hear a noise all the time, it's like knocking on a door or something like that.
Same problem as everybodyelse
With windows 7 I reloaded quicktime from apple site and it fixed it.
