I've been (mostly happily until 2 yrs ago) with Eudora. My usage model is to keep all (saved) email locally (20 yrs archive), access via POP. Unfortunately, the evolution of HTML, iso character sets, etc has been forcing me to move on. I tried TB about 2 yrs ago and abandoned the project for lack of time and urgency. I'm trying again, but now very serious. Anyway, I set up an install and did basic tests - all ok. But I can't seem to find config options to customize. I found some option to set my mail store to a folder of my choice (away from the system root -- C:\ - i use windows 10-11.) to something like E:\docs\tb. It created inbox, trash etc. right there. My previous install attempt (2 yrs ago) created these in a subfolder named for the email account (eudora calls 'personalities'). I do want to use multiple accounts each in their own 'garden', not in the same inbox, outbox, etc.. I can't find where to configure this - I can't even find how to configure my earlier choice to store them on E:. What am I missing? On some settings for copies and folders, it offers (eg) Sent folder on <email account>. I presume this is particular to IMAP and not relevant to my current setup.
That's enough to get me started, but I would like to eventually migrate my Eudora archives to TB, so a pointer to docs on this would be appreciated.
Tnx, Tom

Hello,
I have recently noticed that all my email in Thunderbird between August 26, 2024 and early November has gone missing. I have not changed anything in my Account Settings.
Coinciding with this, Thunderbird has lost all my emails in the Sent and Drafts folders (except for recent ones from December). Oddly enough both folders show data is in them, even though no emails appear. The Sent folder has 119 mb and the Drafts folder has 62 mb shown.
In the account settings for "Copies & Folder," I have "Place a copy in Sent folder" checked. The same goes for the Drafts checkbox. I do not see anything out of the ordinary. I have also run a repair on the folders, but that did not help.
So: How can I recover my emails from August to early November? How can I prevent the emails in my Sent and Draft folders from disappearing?

Adding a Google Calendar causes Thunderbird to be non responsive!
I have added several other calendars, and these all work fine, just this one Calendar causes the problem.
The calendar seems fine when viewed in Google itself. It is a busy calendar with events going back several years and forward at least 2 years.
I am using the Provider for Google Calendars. I am on the latest stable version of Thunderbird.128.5.2esr on Windows 11.
Closing Thunderbird and restarting does not remove the issue; TB stays unresponsive.
Is this a known issue? How can I diagnose the issue with the calendar.
Thanks in advance.

I just bought a new laptop at Best Buy; and asked the Geek Squad to transfer everything from my old Lenovo to the new one. Re: my Thunderbird email: on my old laptop I have about 10,000 emails in my in box. I also have previous years' emails stored in local folders, by year. When the transfer occurred, only one month of "inbox" emails show in the new laptop, which is receiving new ones as well. I cannot find the local folders containing the previous emails. Although I brought the laptops back to Best Buy, the Geek Squad rep was unable to find a way to transfer successfully. They suggested that TBird might be able to download directly from the server? I have looked thru the suggested transfer methods using USB to copy and load,, essentially, onto the new device but am wary of attempting, not wanting to screw up the records . on the old laptop. I have limited tech experience. Can you advise as to how I can get my new laptop to accept the same setup as old, with all the stuff intact? FYI: there is a TB Profile Backup folder on my old laptop that was created during the Geek session; it is 21 GB zip folder. Any help / guidance much appreciated. Kathy Ormosi kormosi@verizon.net

Hello,
I have several email addresses with Thunderbird. When I open Niels.Wichmann@gmx.de a password is requested which I no longer know. Under privacy and security => saved passwords there is no imap for the account, smtp exists. I can access the account with my app on my cell phone. How can I set a new password or how do I get the password? I can display all other passwords.

How to permanently set line spacing to "Single Line Spacing" in emails, any online solutions do not work in Thunderbird version 128.5 64 bit.
I used to able to do this easily and effectively but with the new version of Thunderbird I don't seem to be able to get it to work.
Any working solution would be most appreciated. Thanks.

When splitting up a home, what needs to be done to separate the access via the nonmobile devices? There are two people and thunderbird is what I/we have used for file structure. One person can access both Gmail accounts files, folders, etc. on the in-house, or non-mobile system, but the other person cannot. On our mobile phones, neither can access folders other than their own.
How to completely separate the email account access, without creating confusion?! Ian pretty sure both email accounts are set to IMAP and not POP. So what is the easiest way to learn and complete this task?
Thanks, Steve

Gmail works fine. I've tried the just about all of the things I have found online, but no luck.
Any suggestions? In the past I rolled back to a working version and that fixed it, but it hasn't worked this time. Would removing all of the certificates fix it? Didn't want to take that chance until I threw it out out here!
Thank you!

I moving from classic outlook to Thunderbird and I am having trouble finding how to change fonts and color in signatures for my emails. I do not do html it is a simple signature; name company name and phone numbers. I search and found no help. Is there a way to change color and font in the reply to an email? Sorry I know this sounds simple but I have been using outlook since it came out so this is similar but just enough to give me trouble. Thank you for any help, rick

I just received version 128.5.0esr of Thunderbird, and I see that that the format of the Correspondents column has changed to include the email address along with the name. I don't like that format because it looks too cluttered. If I really want to see the actual email address, I can simply open the email.
I would like to revert back to the legacy column format of just displaying the name. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks.

I have the same problem as asked in: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1440873#question-reply (I can no longer reply to that thread as it has been archived, so I am asking again now in search of an answer).
To reiterate the problem, draft emails are save correctly into the 'Drafts' folder in both Thunderbird and the Gmail web app, but only Thunderbird will correctly delete the draft once the email has been sent. In the Gmail web app, the draft email remains in the 'Drafts' folder.
Why can't Gmail automatically delete draft emails that have been sent? Is there a solution?
I am using Thunderbird 128.5.1esr (64-bit) on Windows 11.
