spell check not working in BT Mail

There is no spell checker in the new BT Mail service. Bt Mail relies upon the users browser to supply spell checking. I have spell check enabled in my Fire fox browser but it does not work in the BT Mail when composing an email.

Hello rodneyjamesford,

Would you please go to the 3-bar menu => Options => General

Under "Language" check "Check your spelling as you type"

You could also consider installing a dictionary :

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/

Another thing to do :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar and look for the preference :

layout.spellcheckDefault the value should be set to 1

If you had to change the value, then close and restart Firefox.

That almost sounds like a security software or adblocker causing it to not work.

Thank you for trying to help me WestEnd. However, I turned off both my Security Software and my Adblocker but the Firefox spell checker still did not work in BT Mail

Thank you Mccoy for trying to help. I have tried your suggestions without success unfortunately.

Sorry to hear that ....

If you have done all of the above (including instaling a dictionary, and not a language pack), then I'm all out of ideas - sorry.

Let's hope someone else will come up with a solution.

Hello McCoy Thanks again ! yes it was the dictionary that i installed.

I asked a colleague (in a private message) to take a look at this - 'don't know if he's around at the moment, though. If you don't mind waiting .....

Dear McCoy. Sorry mate, I checked again and I installed the language pack. I have now installed the GB dictionary and problem solved. Yes my name is Rodney (or Dave) and I am a PLONKER !!! Thank you McCoy I am very grateful for your help !!

Aww, don't be so hard on yourself - I know it's a cliché, but we all make mistakes .....

You got it right now, so : well done !

Or James, maybe ?

You made me think of Graham Blackledge, who auditioned on BGT in 2012 (sure made me laugh, both of you) ....

Hello McCoy A few years ago in the UK there was a highly successful comedy series called "Only Fools and Horses". It revolved around the Trotter Brothers, Del and Rodney. Rodney was the younger. Del's catch phrase was "you really are a plonker ( silly useless fool ) Rodney ". They had a friend "Trigger" who always , for some inexplicable reason, called Rodney "Dave". Rodney always corrected Trigger to no avail - Trigger was not too intelligent. Please note McCoy no spelling mistakes, thanks to you.
