Firefox is deleting Selenium IDE extension on startup

I'm trying to install the Selenium IDE extension with the latest version of FireFox. I go to the install site, it says it installs. The files are staged in the extensions folder. When I restart FireFox, the staged files are deleted, no file is put in the extensions folder and Selenium IDE is not available on the tools menu.

I've tried creating a new profile, uninstalling and re-installing FireFox, copying the extension from another computer. Nothing works

Please provide the web link to this add-on.

Here is a link to the add-on. I'm able to install it on another PC, so I suspect the issue I'm having is specific to the environment on the PC where the install is failing.

That is a rather old extension: Released December 17, 2012 16.5 kB You can't expect much from such an old extension.

With what Firefox version did this extension work in case you have used it before?

I added the wrong link for the extension. I was downloading from: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/selenium-ide/

This add on is still actively updated.

That one has not been signed. It might be the problem.

This will disable add-on signature enforcement; Enter about:config into your Firefox address bar Click the I'll be careful button Find xpinstall.signatures.required in the list Right click the preference Select Toggle until the value is false https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-on-signing-in-firefox
