I'm trying to import my bookmarks from a computer I no longer have access to. I used a mail account to synchronize my bokkmarks but I can no longer access that e-mail. I do however remember the e-mail and the password to the firefox sync account. However this does not seem to be enough for Firefox. After I correctly entered my credentials for my sync account, it tells me that it's also going to send me a confirmation link. But I no longer have access to that mail.

Is there anyway to access my bookmarks using just the credentials for my sync account?

When you want to "add a device" to your Sync account you need to be able to access the email account that was used for Sync. If you can't there is no way to "add a device"; thus no way to recover your bookmarks.

Why not? I have the sync username and password. What's the point of requiring access to the email as well?

A verification email is sent to the email address of record as a security precaution. And a "verification link" has to be clicked from within that email in the browser that is attempting to connect to Sync.

It may seem silly, but it is what it is.

Overall, I suspect that you may have been misusing Sync. Sync is intended to be used to synchronize Firefox user data across multiple devices.

Have you lost access to the "other" device, too?

With another device connected to that Sync account, your Firefox user data would be there, and you could create a new Sync account using an email address that you have access to.

I haven't misused Sync. The other PC's hard drive was wiped clean and then sold. Long story but it's not relevant.

What's the point of having a password for a Firefox account if I have to click a link from an email? It just seems like excessive use of security...

The password for my Firefox account should be enough to access my bookmarks. There's on my Firefox account, not my external e-mail.

Do I at least have read access to my bookmarks using just my Firefox account credentials?
