Hello,

I am a new user coming from Windows Mail and love Thunderbird and wonder why I didn't switch sooner. My question is can I have Thunderbird startup with the first email already in focus in the inbox like Windows Mail & Outlook does. I have tried several different add-on's which can make the inbox default but I still have to manually bring the new email into focus. Thanks for the support.

The short answer is no. When Thunderbird starts the mail is fetched, so the focus really needs to be somewhere else while the mail arrives.

Thanks but I know it's possible with an add-on or added to an add-on that's already out there such as "select inbox" or "folderpane tools". I wish that was within my scope to do or I would help program.

If you want Thunderbird to open on the Inbox displaying Inbox emails, then before you close Thunderbird, select the mail account Inbox and it should be remembered and then next time you start Thunderbird, it shouild open on the Inbox.

Ok it is possible. The add-on "Select Inbox 2.5" has option settings where you can choose what message to go to on open. First, last, last selected, first unread, and first flagged. I chose first and now on startup it goes to the inbox with the first mail already opened. Thanks for your help guys.
