Firefox widows update 3.6.8 showed size 11.0 MB from firefox auto update. I am on high speed internet connection and normally it took just seconds to update firefox but this time, it took 45 minutes to finish downloading. While it was downloading, I did my internet speed test. It was at 4MB/sec. I later check firefox website, the 3.6.8 file size should be 8 MB. I don't know if my firefox update download is legit. Although, after installation, the new version seem worked file. Any suggestions?

The installer versions of Firefox setup for Windows are compressed, where the full version that is downloaded during an update isn't compressed. The server that download was being delivered from was probably overloaded and slow.
I had this issue with the 3.6.10 update. I went to help>update and it started to download and there was a server issue so it stopped. I restarted the update download and it said 10.1 mb, it downloaded and completed. If you uncompress the Firefox 3.6.10 installer from the Firefox site(8mb) it's 28mb. Interesting.
