Increasing font/text size on web pages.
I like Firefox over IE 9, with one exception. I can't modify the text/font size in Firefox like I can in IE 9. I followed the Firefox Help instructions re increasing the text/font size for web pages: Tools, Options, Content, Advanced. Then I changed all fonts to 12, and unchecked the box re allowing web pages to choose their own font. Then clicked OK, OK. But it did nothing. The font on all web pages is tiny... a 5 or a 6. Is there some other way to increase the font? (I was able to use the Zoom function under View, but it only increased the text size minimally, and I dont want to have to use the Zoom function every time I visit a new web page.) Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer

The Firefox Page Zoom feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox, as with some other browsers.
Try the Default FullZoom Level extension:

Or the NoSquint extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/

Thank you very much Edmeister. Your solution worked perfectly.
One other question. I imported a large number of Internet Favorites/Bookmarks from Internet Explorer 9. I have a smaller # of Bookmarks with Firefox (although that will be going up over time). Is there a way to merge my Firefox browser Bookmarks with my Internet Explorer Bookmarks, so I don't end up with 2 separate lists, and so I dont have to try and remember which list a particular bookmark can be found in. (I have a LOT of bookmarks.) Again, thanks for all your help. dgreco99
You can export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.
- Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
- Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

You can resolve duplicate bookmarks with this extension:
Thank you cor-el. One follow-up question. WHAT EXACT STEPS DO I NEED TO TAKE TO CREATE AN HTML FILE??? I tried your instructions above, but could not successfully create an HTML file.
I was having repeated slow downs or crashes with Internet Explorer. Firefox worked much better, so I un-installed Internet Explorer. Since I did that, no more crashes, and my web surfing is much faster.
Before un-installing IE, I backed up my IE "Favorites" on an external hard drive.
Also, I just located a folder with all of my Favorites in My Computer. The folder is labelled "Favorites," and when I open it all of my individual Favorites appear (although they are in alphabetical order, rather then the customized order I had arranged them in IE.) I have 300 Favorites, so its going to take a long time to re-order them.
Any help you can offer re the exact steps I need to take to create the HTML file would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, dgreco99
The only way to get a sorted HTML backup from the IE favorites is by doing that in IE.
So you can consider to reinstall IE to create such an HTML backup.
You can try to restore that Favorites folder in your Windows user account to see if Firefox can import them, but that won't give you a sorted list.
You can find the Import menu entry in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)
- Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Data from Another Browser
