Thunderbird 45.2.0 under Linux suddenly freezes immediately after starting the application and hogs one CPU with 100% all the time. Starting in --safe-mode and/or --offline didn't change the behaviour. Starting the address book on command line works, so this seems to be a problem with the mail view only.

You posted a week ago. So before I offer advice, have you resolved your problem yet?

Not really. I've created a new profile with the bare minimum of mail accounts (just one IMAP account) and hope each day it won't freeze again. More a workaround than a solution. I would prefer to fix the problem with the original profile.

If you gradually add accounts back in, you might find one of them is causing a problem

Updating to 45.3.0 did not help. Now I'm in the process of adding back the other accounts one by one. Syncing takes some time. I'll report back…

What have you done, and how is it going?

I've added back all accounts now and it's working so far. And crossing fingers it won't freeze again for no (appearent) reason. Because it takes some time and patience for all the mails in the accounts to get indexed again.
