The PDF Creator addon has loaded a nag before passing me to my homepage. I'd like to get rid of it without agreeing to allow them to monitor my shopping activities, AND keep a pretty good addon. So I am left with a blank tab, and eventually my homepage on a second tab. I'd like this to go away. Where do I find the string to delete it from the startup page? (They could have at least just asked for a donation. But there's no guarantee the nag will go once I've conceded) The screen has the following: Please support this add-on by enabling the monetisation feature. It allows merchant sites that you shop from to generate revenue for this addon developer. And a link to More Details: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/webpage-to-pdf/privacy/

Sorry I have never used that extension so I am not familiar with how to disable the 'nag' page.

PDF Creator has a support forum over here: http://forums.pdfforge.org/

IMO, it would be nice if they provided an option to by-pass that "feature" after making a contribution to their efforts.

The PDF Creator extension is not, as far as I can tell, associated with the folks at pdfforge and they probably should complain about it.

The PDF Creator extension sends the URL of the current page to the PDFLayer conversion service, which is not free if you send more than 100 unique requests in a month, so they do need to make money somehow. It sounds as though the way they've chosen to do it is unusually inconsiderate and annoying. If it gets to be too much, you could consider a different solution.

For example:

  • Web to PDF - simply sends the URL of the current page to the service at http://www.html2pdf.it/ (so that probably does not work with customized or password-protected pages)
  • PDF Mage - sends the actual HTML content of the current page to the service at http://pdfmage.org/ (so that should give a more complete result but raises more privacy concerns)

You also can consider a free PDF "printer" such as the open source PDFCreator: http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator (when installing, you may want to opt out of PDF Architect if you already have a satisfactory PDF editor). A PDF printer can capture print output from any of your programs, not just one particular browser. But possibly you have a Microsoft XPS printer that can already generate PDFs this way.

Thanks guys. I have offloaded the annoying app and installed a pdf printer. It does the job. Cheers
