Better offline caching of websites, especially reader mode

Hi there! I'm a mostly happy user of Firefox on Android, except for one thing: Firefox seems to be bad at being content with cached data for offline reading.

I have a lot of tabs open, often in reader mode, which I like to bring up when I'm out and about. I frequently switch between browser and other apps. I also often use reader mode. Firefox has the unfortunate desire to reload a tab when I switch to it, even when there's no connectivity (i.e. I'm in the subway). This means I have to react quickly to the browser's loading attempt and cancel it, or the cached content will be dropped and I'll be told there is no connection (Duh, I don't care! Just show me the cache). Many other times though, tabs that were there in the cache won't open at all because Firefox will try to connect immediately... and fail. Did the cache get dropped or something?

Is there anything I can do about it?
