I know the stock Android browser is sanboxed but what about Firefox Mobile and one other question when is Firefox Mobile version 11 coming out?

FYI what I mean by sanboxing is it being virtualized in a bubble of that encapsulates the browser so that only data from the browser is allowed to save outside the sanndbox or something that you want to save outside the bubble lets say an image that you save/download is this type of sandbox that Firefox Mobile uses?

Hi,

Thanks for using Firefox for Android, I don't know the answer to your sandbox question, but it could be something that is documented on http://wiki.mozilla.org.

For the question about Firefox mobile version 11, we are skipping right to version 14 (which is now in beta) and the final date of the release is currently unknown, but it will happen whenever Firefox Beta for mobile is stable enough. (We skipped versions while rewriting the app for performance and flash support). The version 14 will only be for phones at first, then we'll release a tablet version at the next regular release interval.

Hope this helps, Michelle

OK thanks I think I'll use the Dolphin HD browser for the time being because it supports flash and to import my bookmarks from FF desktop I'll try one of two extensions GBookmarks : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/gbookmarks-google-bookmarks-fo/?src=search or GMarks : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/gmarks/?src=search then using Bookmarks to SD : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.mgeek.BookmarkPlugin&feature=search_result I should be able to import/sync all of my Firefox bookmarks with Dolphin HD.

And I hope that FF Mobile does sandbox its self just like the stock browser if not then that's something that should be addressed very soon. Also do you think that Firefox will ever be available for iOS or Windows 8 Mobile OS?

Hi,

Firefox Beta (available in Google Play) includes support for Flash, so you might give it a try, the Sync setup is improved and makes it easy to get all of your bookmarks. As far a sync data, none of that is available to any other part of your device, see the data encryption section of this article for more info: How does Firefox for Android Provide Secure Mobile Browsing?

Thanks! Michelle

Yeah but I don't want or like to bother with beta software typically because it's usually unstable and it's not like I'm totally leaving Firefox behind I'm mean it's not I'm going to uninstall it just temporarily go with another browser to fill the gap but maybe I wont even do that because I hardly ever surf the web on my phone anyways.
