Firefox won't load -- can't even reach home screen
So yesterday I got a new computer and downloaded Firefox to be my default browser. It worked fine the first few hours -- I was able to log into my account, set up my extensions, and use the browser as intended. A few hours in, though, it completely crashed on me. I am unable to go to new websites, refresh a page, open bookmarks, log in to my Firefox account, or even open settings; the home screen also doesn't load when I open a new tab. Literally the only thing I can do is freeze the Bookmarks Toolbar and customize the Toolbar. I tried closing and reopening, refreshing/resetting the browser, restarting my computer, going into Troubleshoot mode, deleting and redownloading the application, but nothing is working. I have no trouble with Firefox on my previous computer or my phone, and Edge is working fine on this computer. I don't know what to do anymore. Any help would be much appreciated.

Try to update to Firefox 97.0.1.You can find the full installer of the current Firefox release (97.0.1) in all languages and all operating systems here:
- Help -> About Firefox
Downloaded new version. Didn't work. Realized I kept getting an error message every time I downloaded it and I should probably do something about it. "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." Looked it up. Seems I deleted something I shouldn't have. Downloaded what I needed. Now it's working perfectly. *face palms*
Thanks everyone for the help!

What OS? What version of Firefox? Several users are currently having issues with Webroot. What security software are you running? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1367248

Windows 11 Firefox 97.0 (64-bit) Sophos. I also have Sophos on my old computer and am not having any problems with Firefox.
Can you try downloading it from the Microsoft Store?

I originally downloaded from the store. Then it crashed on me, so I deleted it and downloaded directly from Mozilla's website, but still had the same issue. Just downloaded from the Microsoft Store again and it's still not working.

Are there any apps in the background that might interfere with Firefox?

The only thing I could think of would be my VPN (Proton) or antivirus (Sophos). Every app I have on my new computer I also have on my old one. Checked the VPN, no difference if it's on or off.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.
See "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022":
- https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist
- https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
- https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe
You may also have to install the Visual Studio 2013 Redistributable Package. You need to reboot the computer.
