I run a Java Web Start app. I need to debug with the Java Console. After upgrading my system, the Java Console no longer comes up with my app, even though "Show Console" is still set in the Java Control Panel.

I forced the Java Web Start to use jdk1.6.0_18 and the console comes up. However, since I need to debug what my users are using, I would like to be able to have the console when I use jdk1.5.0_22. I would really like to figure out if this is a FF problem, a JWS problem or a Fedora problem!

This forum is for Firefox support and deals with Java issues such as Use the Java plugin to view interactive content on websites and some other Java-related issues that Firefox users may encounter. This forum doesn't really offer much help with Java Web Start issues, aside from what other users may post who come across this thread. If you don't get help here, you may wish to try the Java Help Center, the Java.net forums, or Sun's Oracle forums.

Note that the "Tools -> Java Console" menu item in Firefox no longer works as of Java 6 Update 10. (Starting in Firefox 3.6, JRE 6 Update 10 or higher is needed to run Java applets.) Ref: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Java_Console_disabled Quote:^Note: Starting with Java 6 Update 10, the Java Console menu item in Firefox ("Tools -> Java Console") and SeaMonkey 2 ("Tools -> Web Development -> Java Console") is nonfunctional and no longer opens the Java Console. This is by design. * If you don't use the Java Console, there is no need to do anything. The Java article How do I enable and view the Java Console? explains how to open the Java Console, if you need to use it. ^
