Dear Thunderbird:

I have my favorite font and it has a check mark beside it. However, when replying to an email, there is no check mark and it is more difficult to find.

Would it be possible to have the check mark there all the time ?

Or, would it be possible to have the chosen font highlghited, perhaps in some bright color ?

Or, would it be possible to have the chosen font placed at the top of the list ?

Or, would it be possible to have all incoming and outgoing emails automatically change to the chosen font ?

Thank you for your consideration.

Basically, I'm trying to use Thunderbird to clear some space on my Gmail account. I'm using IMAP. However that just won't work (most of the time). If I archive emails to a local archive or move it to a local folder, a) nothing happens, b) the files are actually moved (and appear in the archive folders)... but the mails remain on the server when checking through Gmail itself. Also, the mails reappear after 10-20 minutes. c) mails are actually moved and they are removed from the server. Mostly it's a or b.

I have tried all deletion options... delete directly (doesn't appear to work), mark as deleted (won't free up space) or move to Trash. Depending on the folder it used to work for a short while, with the mails appearing in the trash folder, ready for deletion. But that stopped working again.

This is all super frustrating and I have no idea if this is a bug or expected behaviour.

Hi How can I Select all emails from a sender. I'm looking for a similar functionality to Outlook where you right-click on an email > "Select all messages from this sender" so I can move them out, delete them, or do whatever.

It looks like this is missing from your application. If I can't use it, I have no other reason to use TB.

Thank you B

Roland Buchwald

I've tried Troubleshooting Mode but it only recommends "Clear Startup Cache" and when I click it to reboot the program Thunderbird stills fails to load the Inbox file and Troubleshooting Mode again recommends the same "Clear Startup Cache" as a remedy. Not sure what to do to get Inbox file loaded in program. BTW the program does download new emails to the Inbox file but program is unable to load the file. During Thunderbird program restart the message at the bottom left of Thunderbird window is "Summarizing files for Inbox" which after 20 minutes program crashes ans asks for a reboot. Any corrective action recommendations is appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Dear Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am experiencing a significant slowdown in email synchronization in Thunderbird. Emails take a noticeably long time to appear after clicking, and the overall syncing process is extremely slow across all folders.

The problem began on Friday, December 6th, following my use of the "Repair" button on the Inbox (8.9GB) and Sent (10.7GB) folders. After initiating the repair for the Sent folder, synchronization across all folders (Inbox, Sent, Spam, etc.) slowed down considerably.

Already done: Checked "All Mail" on Google IMAP: The folder does not appear in IMAP. Troubleshoot Mode: Attempted, but it did not resolve the issue. Reinstalled Thunderbird: Uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird on my Mac, but the problem persists.

The issue seems isolated to Thunderbird and does not impact my Mac’s overall performance, memory usage, or speed. The synchronization delay affects only Thunderbird, while other applications function normally. I would greatly appreciate your guidance on how to resolve this issue and restore normal synchronization performance.

Thank you in advance for your support!

I have two email accts. In Account Settings, left pane, my 'business' acct shows first (alphabetical) and has a yellow star next to the name. My 'home' acct appears second and does not have a star. What does the star signify and if it influences any behavior, how would I change it to the other acct?

In the SMTP settings window, my 'home' acct appears first and is labeled as (default). How is this designation supposed to change any behavior, and how would I change it if I wanted to?

If I do an uninstall, will I lose my address book(s) & subfolders?

Got a new my-own-build desktop and have been doing a lot of set up. Found out Outlook limited me to 10 email accounts (odd since I had more than 10 on the old machine) and so A.I. said "use Thunderbird", which I did use regularly in the 2000-early 2010s. I am setting up (adding accounts) to Thunderbird but one of the gmail accounts gave me problems--Google was causing the problem, not Thunderbird--in setup/authentication and now this account wont add to the desktop for some reason. So I went to my mobile and added the account and am now trying to export that account (through PhoneLink) to the desktop, but the desktop "Import" feature does not have a setting import the file from the phone into the desktop. File has a name 'thunderbird_settings_export_2024-12-21.k9s' and not a 'zip' file or any other thing the Import feature looks at.

Thunderbird on my wife's windows 10 pc opens but hangs trying to communicate with ATT/Yahoo server. When none of the obvious troubleshooting steps helped, I thought the Profile might be corrupted. I recovered only the 2 day-old Profile folder from my Retrospect backup set, renamed the current Profile folder, and pasted the older Profile in its place. Thunderbird then started, logged into the server, and downloaded emails. However, nothing about Firefox looked familiar - no the local options/folders, etc. were there. How do I get the original Thunderbird look and feel back for her (very important)?

I have two email accounts name@btinternet.com and I cannot send emails from either. I get the following message pop up:

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: authentication required - Your email could not be sent. To fix this you must make a simple change to your email client (known as SMTP authentication). For advice visit http://www.bt.com/smtp. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

I have checked the SMTP settings with the details on the BT website (username for the main account, server name, port number, security and authentication) but nothing changes.
