For some reason Firefox has been getting slower and slower with every update.

I loved FF more than any other browser, i love it's not part of Google or Microsoft who i just do not trust one bit and well IE is just horrible to use also Chrome does not allow extensions anymore which is a pain but it is the fastest browser working for me at this time.

I basically have to use Chrome to get the advantage of my 100Mbp/s fibre optic broadband because Firefox just does not give me that kind of speed i pay extra for. The only time i use Firefox these days is if i need to use an extension that Chrome will not allow me to use.

Firefox was once the fastest browser there was, i remember there even being speed up apps making it even faster that intended and that's going back a good amount of years when i had only 8-10Mb/s download but it was faster than what i get now.

Something is very wrong here, i should not be getting slower speeds with a download speed of 100Mb/s and an upload of 30Mb/s

And yes those are the kind of speeds we get with our ISP, i test on a regular basis, granted the modem needs a restart now and again but Chrome is never slow like FF is and it seems to get slower with every update.

Can someone please explain why this is happening? I want to click yes every time i open Firefox and it asks if i want it to be my default browser but i just can't with such slow loading speeds.

Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.
