Every time I fire up Firefox or open a new tab, a window pops up that asks if I want Firefox to make changes to my computer; I want this to stop.

Hi

Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator. You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab. Make sure all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
  • "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected

Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder.

I misread your post. Did you just install the browser or an update? Firefox would only make changes at that time. No other time.

I reinstalled Firefox because it was frozen and I couldn't get it to work. I've been getting the popup message that asks if I want Firefox to make changes to my computer.
