Problem importing from Outlook 2013
My wife is having problems importing her mail from Outlook 2013 into the current version of Thunderbird (from an Outlook PST file). On the last attempt (the best so far), it started importing but then crashed. It did create Outlook folders in TB, but the folders were empty. What could solve the problem?

can you use outlook when you try? The import process used the outlook program, so if it in not functioning correctly then the import will fail.
Ensure any PST file is currently open in outlook.
Try importing mail contacts etc separately. sometime the "all" approach has issues.
If Outlook is still installed on the same computer as TB, the import wizard might work better with TB 17. Another option is to use MailStore Home.

First we tried it with outlook open, but TB Crashed both times. I thought that the file should probably be closed for it to copy. That way it did create folders in TB, but no messages were imported. We'll try again with Outlook open.

I'll look for MailStore Home. Is TB 17 still available?

The link is on the mozillazine page given in .../1271067:

Good afternoon
I am trying to export my Outlook 2003 .pst files (which are quite large) into Thunderbird version 68.2.2, which I have downloaded and installed satisfactorily.
I have followed the instructions to go to Toll > Import, selected Import Everything and clicked next Outlook is the only option available to me and is selected by default. Clicking Next starts the import wizard but after a few seconds I get a message saying that Thunderbird has crashed.
My first thought was that the format of the .pst files has changed in subsequent releases of Outlook, but after doing a fair bit of research in the Internet, am assured that it has not.
Any help or suggestions that can give will be much appreciated.

TB won't import Outlook data unless Outlook and TB are installed on the same computer. If you can install TB on the computer with Outlook, the Tools/Import process may work, but you must choose 'Mail', not 'Import Everything'. Once imported to TB, you can transfer the TB data to another computer that has TB.
If you just have the pst files, you will have to explore the commercial software options for converting pst to mbox, the format that can be imported to TB. Also, look at the MailStore program mentioned above. It may be able to import pst files, and if so it will export data to mbox files.
Thanks for the suggestion. Outlook 2003 and TB are both installed on the same computer and I have just tried import just the 'Mail' option in TB again but after a few seconds the screen goes blank and after about another 5-10 seconds I get the same message that TB has crashed and inviting me to submit a crash report, which I have done.
Have you any other suggestions please?
Regards and TIA
Phil
If you have the crash report (under Help/Troubleshooting Information), post the URL here. The automatic import might work better with an older version of TB, but rather than fiddle with that, I'd try the MailStore method:

Thanks for the suggestion.
I downloaded and installed an old version of TB (38?) following a bit more research on the Internet and have now managed to import the Outlook e-mails and contacts but unfortunately not my filters or my calendar. I've now updated to version 60.9.1 and am manually exporting my calendar and filters.
