I downloaded the recent Thunderbird update and now it won't open at all. I get the spinning wheel.

So your MacOS version is 10.13? Does starting Thunderbird in safe mode help ?

I've lost my old Thunderbird trying to install the new. I am running Sierra 10.13.6
