I had problem with the download of firefox version 6, it came with a virus attached.
When I downloaded version 6 I had problems starting firefox so I downloaded it again. My security is with Trend Micro. I recieve a message from the security system that it had not received an update since august 22. I call them and they somehow send an update which took longer than I expected. I decided to do a full scan with the updated file and it found two virus which they resolved. One for each update of version 6. Normally I trust firefox when it tells me the download was checked. Somehow both firefox and trend micro failed this time. I do not know which virus because it was not identified.

Where did you download Firefox 6.0.2 from as if it was from mozilla.org mozilla.com then there is no virus in Firefox as it could be very well be a false positive, more common after a recent virus definition update. Over the years every time a anitvirus thought something in Firefox was a virus or trojan, it was either a false positive or a mistake and they corrected in a new virus definition update.
Do you at least remember where the virus was supposedly located?
Also if it was in Firefox Cache, then the viruses and trojans and such in there are completely harmless.
For example: Somebody recently posted that his avasts reported trojan JS:Dursg-A in timer.xul however that did not come with Firefox. http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Win32%2fDursg

I guess you are right. Micro Trend came back with the name of the virus as TROJ_GEN.R4FC218 with a response of Detected. The virus was remove when I deleted the save file from my downloads and from the recycle bin. Probably the name came in with Micro update threat file. Thank you for your help, I am retired but even after working in IS for 35 years just the threat of a virus scares me especially with no information about it. thanks again
