Have only json bkmks from prev FF 29 install, but now, how do I it restore to html? (Cant find it in any FF menu.)

more options

I had to reinstall win 7 a couple days ago. The old installation is in Win.OLD. After installing FF29 in the new setup, I tried to just move the html bkmks file in the Win.OLD folder over to the new system, but somehow, it was simply another copy of what was on the brand new install of FF. Looking deeper, I was able to find the old bookmarks in a json file in a bookmarksbackup folder buried in AppData, and could tell from the date & size it was indeed the old bkmks, saved from the day before the new install.

I tried to find something here that would tell me how to "restore" the json file to html, but all I could find that was related, only said to "restore" the json file, but w/o any details...so how do I do that? One answer gave directions using the Firefox menu and using a restore function, but all I have is the File/Edit/View/History/Bookmarks/Tools/Help menu, and the "customize" page and it's functions, but cannot find anything about restoring/exporting/saving bookmarks. Am I missing a menu? Thanks!!

被選擇的解決方法

You can find "Show All Bookmark" to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) at the bottom of the "Show your bookmarks" button on the Navigation Toolbar next to the star to bookmark the current tab to the Unsorted folder.

Bookmarks in the JSON file format can be restored via the Library (CTRL + SHIFT + B / Firefox -> Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks). HTML formats can also be restored through the Library however you needed to previously back up your bookmarks into the HTML format by going to the "Export bookmarks to HTML" option.

If you have the JSON files you can go to the Library (Ctrl + Shift + B / Firefox -> Bookmarks -> Show all Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Restore -> Choose File

I haven't come across a "converter" for JSON to HTML for Bookmarks.

You need to restore a JSON bookmarks backup file; HTML bookmarks files are exported and imported.

The problem was I couldn't find the either the library or the needed menu. (The last time I installed a new OS, I was able to get the html form of the bookmarks, and just drop them in place after the install, so have never gone very far beyond just making folders and sub-folders in the bookmark toolbar, and adding bookmarks as necessary.) Once I knew where to go to find the right menu (the very bottom of the bookmarks) I was able to get to the button to restore the json file I'd found in the old bookmarkbackups file in my Users AppData Firefox profile folder from the old install. It took a couple minutes, but when it finished, my old bookmarks were in place.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks, I had seen what I think was a previous post of yours noting this to another similar issue, but the problem was, as I explained in a reply above, I couldn't find where the restore function was to be found! --Ron
