I keep getting popup that says firefox would not let the option open
It keeps asking me if I want to allow it or not. I am running linux 17.3 on my computer.

You try re-install firefox. If You use Mint 17.3 this is : sudo apt-get remove firefox sudo apt-get install firefox in terminal
