Unable to send/receive messages without VPN.

Hi All,

I'm unable to send/receive messages through mozilla thunderbird, unless my VPN is active. I would appreciate any assistance in finding a way to send/receives messages whether or not my VPN is active. I just don't know where to begin with all the settings configurations in thunderbird.
