Firefox 116 requires Windows 10 as the minimum and users on Windows 7 and 8 and 8.1 have been moved to Firefox 115 ESR.

Firefox 116.0 and later has dropped support of the EOL Windows 7, 8, 8.1.
The most current Firefox version that still supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 is Firefox 115 ESR currently at 115.6.0esr and the last update will be 115.15.0esr in Sept 2024.
