I have Firefox 46.0.1 Upon upgrade to this version, I can no longer access Google and Amazon (my account on Amazon) and I don't know what other websites. I get the your connection is not secure error message. Chrome isn't supported on Vista Home and IE doesn't work well for all programs I use. There has to be some easy way to fix this. Please provide advice.

Those sites work okay for me on Firefox 46.0.1, so I assume the problem is Vista. That is a very old OS and it might be wise to consider upgrading.

There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

Are you using Kaspersky security software?

If the certificate is issued by your Kaspersky security software then you have two options:

Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:

  • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website with the https:// protocol prefix (https://xxx.xxx).

  • retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
  • click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer

You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate. If necessary then please attach a screenshot that shows the Certificate Viewer with the issuer.
