Uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Toolbar extension usually fixes problems with the Google Toolbar extension's Search functions acting quirky or not working at all. I haven't had that problem with the GTB, but I created new Profiles for Firefox 4.0 instead of using the 3.6 Profiles (because I am still using Firefox 3.6.x for a lot of the day).

As much as appreciate the solution of "the-edmeister", I think I will stay with FF 3.6 and monitor other peoples problems, hoping they will settle down eventually.

It would appear that FF4 has been released too soon and not given an adequate field trial.
