Hello,

I was using Internet Explorer 9 as my default browser. I downloaded Firefox and imported everything over, but Adobe Flash Player is not on Firefox. It's asking to manually install the Plug-in and, after I click the icon, it doesn't install.

Since I already have flash player installed, which works fine in IE, how do I fix this problem?

Thank you.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash; an ActiveX version for IE only and a Plugin version for most other browsers including Firefox. On a Windows system, you should always update both individually. You do not have the Plugin version installed for Firefox.

  1. Using Firefox, go to the following direct download link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
  2. When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit OR Firefox button > Exit)
  3. Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
    • In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
    • The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    • The installation is quick.
  4. Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
  5. Direct link ActiveX version for IE only: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

In order to download Adobe Flash Player, make sure Firefox has the "Save all tabs and windows" and / or Bookmark them and close Firefox, when you have downloaded Flash Player, go back to Bookmarks, or History and click on Restore All Windows and Tabs...as long as you have the Bookmarks or History, or Restore All...Mozilla Firefox will open everything again. It's the easier way I fin..Have a nice day, hope that works for you..:)

I have what is perhaps a related question.I can download and install flash in FF 12,but when I reboot the computer,it has uninstalled itself. The weird thing is it is still installed if I open my alternate Chrome browser.Any suggestions? Thanks!

Google Chrome comes with its own Flash player.
You can see that on the about:plugins page (chrome://plugins/) in GC.

Do still see the Flash Player file (NPSWF32.DLL) in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\ folder?

No,I can't find the NPSWF32.DLL file when I put this in my "search programs and files" as I write this. BTW,I am running win 7 64 bit with4 gig ram. I had to install flash tonite when I booted the computer, and I have just looked at a CNN video in FF 12 so I know it's working.
