I just updated to 30.0 - well, should I say, Firefox automatically updated. Usually no problem. But now the Xfinity Toolbar (Comcast) no longer shows up above my tabs. I tried to disable the add-on and reinstall, restart, lather, rinse, repeat: but nothing shows. There is a 'band' above my tabs where the toolbar should be - and the toolbar is listed as an option in the pull down View/Toolbars - but nothing shows up. Can this bug be fixed... fast??

Your System Details shows;

Installed Plug-ins

Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.06 Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape "9.5.5"

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.

With the last Firefox upgrade, some plugins are no longer enabled until you enable it.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools Linux; Edit Mac; application name

Then Add-ons.

Hot key; <Control> (Mac: <Command>) <Shift> A)

On the left side of the page, select Plugins.

BTW; At the top right is a link to check your plugins.

Thanks for the infor, FredMcD. Though - a bit weirded out that you were able to 'see' my system info that I had two Adobe plug-ins. Regardless - both of those were there before when I was running 29.X.

As far as the pluin being enabled - everything is showing that it SHOULD be running - but there is simply nothing at the top of the page. Afraid that in order to get it back, I'm going to have to go through the restore process for Firefox, and that sucks getting it all set back up again for tabs on bottom, etc...

Go to the top of this page and on the right look for Question details. Click it. On the bottom, click More system details.

The information shown here is about you system. Nothing Personal Is Shown.

As to the toolbar, Have you looked here;

Move your mouse to the top of the Firefox window, then right click. You will see a menu of the available toolbars.

Again, appreciate the help FredMcD. Don't know how to make this clearer.

When I go to View-Toolbars - the Xfinity is an option. When I check it, I get a blank bar across the top of my tabs (as if a tool bar has been activated). When I un-check it, that blank bar goes away. Simple as that. Therefore, it seems to be installed correctly, it's just not showing up.

As far as the dual adobe plug-ins. I tried to choose "never activate" for the v9.5.5, but when I did, it also put that status on the v11. So - they must be interlinked. Therefore, don't think this is the issue, but could still be wrong.

Okay. two possibilities.

  • 1) The toolbar is not compatible with v30.

==Go to the add-on web page and check. Look for support site.

  • 2) The toolbar is blocked by another add-on.

==Try disabling all other add-ons. Restart. If the toolbar works . . . .

Thx, FredMcD. On a whim... did another search on community here - and saw another user post about this here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1006003?esab=a&s=xfinity&r=0&as=s

One of the answers points them here: http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Web-Browsers/Xfinity-toolbar-blocked-by-new-edition-of-Firefox/td-p/2193314

So - perhaps this is a Comcast issue that will be fixed. Thx for all your help. Guess I'll have to check back from time to time to see if they release an update.
