Upload window - behavior on selecting excel files with Excel window open
Imagine you are working on an Excel file. You have finalised and saved it. You leave it open and want to upload it via Firefox - whether to some portal, or to email, or whatever. As soon as any Excel file is selected in the Explorer/upload window (either by single click or by highlighting via the arrow keys), Excel window is brought up to the front - as if I had clicked on the icon in the task bar.
I can't make heads or tails of this - it seems to concern only Excel. It's quite frustrating per se, and especially when needing to upload multiple Excel files.
Any ideas?

Guigs2, you understood correctly.
cor-el, yes, it happens only when Excel is already running. It does not open Excel if Excel is not running.
Update: now it does not happen anymore. I've no real idea what changed. I probably quit Firefox, I may have killed all running Excel processes, or just rebooted.
I uninstalled the Flash plugins and installed the last version. If the issue happens again, I'll try it in safe mode.
Thanks for your help so far!

HI Beriberi, Thank you for your question, I understand that when you upload or select a file of excel type inside Firefox, the excel application comes into focus when you select the file in the explorer window.
As the steps are pretty clear how, can you make sure that this does not happen in Safe Mode to make sure it is not an add on? Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode
If it still happens in Safe Mode the next steps would be to file a bug in bugzilla.mozilla.com. We look forward to your reply.
Does this only happen when Excel is already running?
There are other things that need your attention.
Your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.
- Shockwave Flash 14.0 r0
- Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0
You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.
You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.
- (32 bit Windows) C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
- (64 bit Windows) C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\
