Firefox has been "Behaving badly" for some weeks now and when I put Malwarebytes through the machine to clean it up I discovered that I had a couple of Trojans. Malwarebytes made short work of the Trojans but Firefox doesn't work properly. To overcome this problem I attempted to uninstall and then re install Firefox to no avail. What can I do?

At the moment I am using "Chrome" as a browser because Firefox won't work.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

What I need is an external scanner (That's trustworthy) to remove the problem. At the moment almost none of my programs are functioning properly. I ran Malwarebytes and it appears to have eradicated the virus but as I never got an installation disc when I purchased my computer, I cannot repair or re-install Windows 7. Any viable solloutions?

You really need support from a WIndows 7 forum for issues like that; it sounds far beyond merely a Firefox support issue at this point.

Windows Secrets has a good group of fora. http://windowssecrets.com/forums/ Specifically for Windows 7 support. http://windowssecrets.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/52-Windows-7-Forum

Try to delete the Windows Temp folder (%TMP% or %TEMP%). Also check the permissions for this folder via the Properties in the right-click context menu.
